Before it attacks or even begins to stalk its prey, the cheetah watches a herd from a high vantage point like a termite mound or a tree and selects its target.

Females are solitary except when they have young. Some males are also solitary. Sometimes males, usually brothers live in small groups called coalitions.

Cubs have thick silvery-grey mantle down their backs imitating the look of a tenacious animal called a honey badger. This mimicry map help deter predators.
